La Barra
Much like most restaurants I’m visiting in Dubai, I’m overdue. Opened over the summer, La Barra, headed by Chef Roberto, formally of Waka, currently of Tabu and Infini concepts. I have an appointment in Nakheel Mall, so it is easy to accept a lunch invitation. Although my preference is still Time Out Market, Depachika Food Hall offers several excellent local venues. Does this have to do with Depachika’s lack of an alcohol license? Well, you can make your own decision… At the tiny serving counter, Chef Roberto whips up highlights of the menu, including a trio of ceviches, AED99, and other local Peruvian specials. I’m happy with the flavorful and bright ceviches, including the Lucca edition, named after his son. The trio feels correctly priced and is filling for one or easily split between two.
