Has Dubai reached Peruvian/Nikkei/Pan Asian fusion overload? Signs point to yes (and we most likely reached capacity somewhere in 2021). While the interior of Amelia is a showstopper — vaguely steampunk, with inexplicable nods to Amelia Earhart (???) — the menu is similar to half a dozen other restaurants I’ve been to in the past six months (and that doesn’t include the venues I still need to get to). Things stand out in weird ways… I’m looking at you, French baby potatoes in a vat of truffle cream, and cooking your own steak on what can only be described as a Flintstones-style personal BBQ (?!?!?). Service shines at the beginning, but as the restaurant fills (on a Monday, inexplicably), our server and his team become more difficult to flag down. We all note the 60-year-old DJ but don’t love the volume 10+ as we depart. Again, it’s a Monday. Our final send-off is waiting some time for our cars at the valet (which costs AED35?…
