In today’s complicated and frustrating traffic patterns in Dubai, I am starting to vastly prefer lunch dates over dinner reservations. And while I thought my husband could join me one fine Friday afternoon for such an occasion, he could not. So it was with some pleasure that I went to lunch at Signor Sassi alone. The location is at the St. Regis Gardens, home to perennial favorite Tresind Studio and buzzy Chez Wam. The improved introduction and arrival (no more schlepping through the mall) make it an enjoyable experience. However, diners should note that arriving at the St. Regis can be tricky. My guess is the undeniably popular SushiSamba lunch is behind the crowding (although Aura Skylounge might also be a culprit). Fortunately, I chose to park in Nakheel Mall (and get a bit of shopping done, as well as a quick exit).
The three-course lunch at Signore Sassi sits at a very reasonable AED145, representing an excellent value for money (perhaps the best in the city, no hyperbole). Altho…
