Another day, another Asian restaurant in Dubai…
Long overdue, I finally made my way to Mayabay. Located in what used to be the third version of Katsuya (but who’s counting?), Mayabay has seen a transformation worthy of the space at Jumeirah Al Naseem. I was lucky enough to visit the venue before it was open for a soft launch and marveled at the space’s transition. The large restaurant is simultaneously intimate and vibey. With multiple dining rooms, a bar area, and a sushi bar, this 200-cover restaurant is good when it’s empty or when it’s full.
Settling in, I review the drinks menu, which offers a variety of unique cocktails. I try the Lotus; a champagne-based cocktail served in the longest champagne flute I’ve ever seen (and would love to take home). This drink includes pomegranate liqueur, lychee juice, champagne, and fresh raspberries (and yes, I would order it again, both for the ‘gram and because it was delicious).
