Let’s start at the beginning. I’ve been to the three previous iterations of Katsuya (the two locations at Dubai Mall and once to Jumeirah al Naseem). The latest version is located at the newly opened Hyde Hotel. Getting to our destination is a bit of an effort as — Dubai being Dubai — the slip road we need to get on isn’t really open or able to see on Google Maps. Additionally, the driveway itself is a little backward and — Dubai being Dubai — far too small for the number of guests the hotel will most likely have (this approaching the disaster which is the sister SLS property).
This slightly negative impression carries into the lobby with its strange/unflattering lighting. The carpeted floors on arrival to the 4th floor (where the restaurants are located) are also design choices I wouldn’t have made. Hubs has a comment about the spacing and privacy in the urinals, but I’ll have to take his word for it. Given nicer finishes in other nearby properties, I’m not sure what exactly Hyde was …
