Given the state of the world, there is still no non-awkward way to send this newsletter out. I’m still going to keep up, but fully respect whatever form of social media you need to take these days. If looking for something local, consider Tarahum for Gaza or Sharing a Meal with the WFP.
What a week! The Hollywood Bowl still holds up as a venue, and it was a perfect October evening to see Death Cab for Cutie and the Postal Service.
Onwards to Palm Springs to get some relaxation in. Our hotel — Drift — was the right place to base our visit from. There are a number of fun bars and restaurants in town, and we were very impressed with Boozehounds, The Front Porch, Farm, and Las Palmas (among others). This was the first trip in forever where not a single meal was booked in advance, and we’ve had fun exploring what’s available.
On Thursday, we made our way to Vegas, and for once, the weather has been perfect. Eric and I renewed our vows — 20 years! — with friends and family (and a big thank you to Dr. Brandt for flying out to surprise us).

The Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Cultural Understanding is a must visit for people looking for those 'deeper cuts' in Dubai. I usually take people during Ramadan for iftar.
