Weekly A to Z, Oct 22nd.
The one from Parma.
I started the week on a high note by meeting up with The Bookers at Marea. We enjoyed plenty of delicious pasta, had some discussion around Magpie by Elizabeth Day, caught up with one of our original book club members, and celebrated Helen summiting Mount Kilimanjaro. Here’s a look at some of what we ordered. #invited
On Monday, I accepted an invitation to hang with Dan (from Carnistore) and Lindsay and Paul (from The Tasting Class). Aside from some excellent proteins, there were plenty of exciting things to discuss. I love the direction of where some of my favorite local businesses are going. (PS, join The Tasting Class x Carnistore as part of the Vine Festival on November 13th, at AED350 per person you get a generous amount of food and wine).
A surprise on Tuesday — an invitation to meet and enjoy some of chef Thomas Bühner’s food at the Jubilee Gastronomy outlet at Expo 2020, my first visit. If you want to see part of the visit, click here. FYI, the Hot potato foam + Pumpkin curry ice was a revelation! I also managed to sneak in and see Adrift as well from a pre-lunch burger (yes, they are licensed, and yes, it’s an easy and cool place to enjoy lunch or dinner at Expo). #invited
Lots of fantastic deliveries this week, including the most gorgeous autumnal cake from The Kakao Guy, plus their latest Nama (sesame flavored). I also received some of the expanded menu from Gigi, out of Kitch-In, and Roobaru, with some unique treats. #gifted
On Thursday, I was off to Parma, via Milan, with Parmigiano Reggiano. Where are we going next? Feel free to follow along.

I’ll be posting from Italy all weekend, and sharing more about my trip in the next newsletter. Next week I’m intentionally trying to keep quiet, but I might check out Gohan, which I’ve been hearing great things about.
If you enjoy this newsletter and want to support me, consider telling a friend, ordering from these restaurants, purchasing my books (or these novels), or buying me coffee.
