Without being too vague, as someone who is usually on top of their communication skills, I was a 0/3 this week and wondering what is going on in the universe. I guess 2023 still has some surprises and lessons in store, and I got some very good and loud reminders about questions that I need to ask, clarify, and confirm.
On Monday, I was only too happy to accept an invitation to Jaleo featuring Chef Jose Andres. With some delicious standout dishes — the wagyu cured beef, and the Josper mushrooms with egg yolk — I still remain in awe of the World Central Kitchen and all that continues to be accomplished through this organization. Also, side note — no more pork at Jaleo? Say it ain’t so! #invited
On Tuesday, I managed to accomplish quite a bit without leaving the house, including an at-home massage from Zens Home Spa and a delivery of Silver Fern Farms from Prime Gourmet, including a massive leg of lamb, which is being saved until we can figure out how to cook it and share it with friends. Don’t worry, we put the rest of the care package to good use. #gifted
On Wednesday, I was back on set with Dubai byFood. For this episode, we journeyed into the world of supper clubs and featured (new to me) Savour to Taste. The episode had new friends and old, and a truly inspired South African wine pairing from Chef Scott. We all walked away with a list of (reasonable!) wines to pick up on our next visit to MMI or A&E.
Thursday found me out and about for d-Journal, where I was able to enjoy some of the spa services at Skin111, at the Nakheel Mall location. Real talk, I’m not ready for HiFu. #invited
And Friday, I was back at home to experience the delights of a (professionally) clean house with The Healthy Home. For any first-time villa owner, or if you’re moving in the coming months, do yourself a favor and go for a top-to-bottom cleaning (your future self will thank you). Finally, Sushi Art is celebrating 10 years and sent over their (highly delicious) special edition box (yes, it’s also a table). #gifted

This weekend? Thought I might be on a plane, but am now delighted to be decorating a Christmas tree and hopefully visiting the “new” Avatara in Dubai Hills.
Next week? Mixing some things up, but definitely attending the Dubai Tourism Gastronomy event and the Michelin Abu Dhabi awards (!).
