Last weekend saw the Bookers back together at Mimi Kakushi, where we all agreed that the food, music, and vibe added up to one of the best brunches we’ve been to in some time. You can view our experience here. #invited
MMI sent over a treat (champagne splits are always a way to my heart) and a voucher for the launch of their new Town Center location. I’m hoping to drop by soon and check things out as I think we’re running a bit low on a few essential stocks. #gifted
On Thursday, I belatedly made my way to Bar du Port for a quick catch-up with an out-of-town friend. #invited
It was off to the ARN studios on Friday for some foodie chat on Dubai Eye, and the Risen team was kind enough to drop off some goodies for me to share with everyone. #gifted
Otherwise, this week was full of filming, meetings, and editing — overall, a good balance. Also, turning down an international press trip is always a bummer, but I’m happy these invites are hitting my inbox again (and that I can pass along opportunities to friends in the industry).

Looking ahead, we’re going to enjoy an easy lunch at Drift this weekend, and I’ve got RSVP on the calendar for next week.
Favorite dishes this month? (How did we get to the end of August already?!?!) Memorable dishes of the month include the crab and avocado starter at Fat Uncle, the sweet and savory omelet at Hashi, and the overall experience at the Mimi Kakushi brunch.
So, how do you feel about the upcoming season? I genuinely feel confident about where I am and where I’m going. I thought there was going to be one more week of ‘quiet’ before the chaos starts (but I think I’m wrong). And, as we look ahead, a quarterly reminder that my paid subscribers have access to weekly honest and critical reviews (and everything in my library).
