In advance of Eid al-Fitr, wishing all those who celebrate, Eid Mubarak.
Like many people across the world, my mind is never far from the atrocities happening in Gaza, ongoing since October 6th. While the continued genocide of the Palestinian people remains shocking, terrible, and a host of other adjectives we shouldn’t have to use in 2024, I think the focus came a little closer to home with the attack on the WCK aid workers this week. Having met the talented, gregarious, and engaging José Andrés on a few occasions, I often think of him as a humanitarian first and a chef second. Furthermore, his continued use of his role, platform, and position remains nothing short of inspiring. Like so (so!) many other families, my heart goes out to the WCK organization. Here are the chef’s thoughts, in his own words, from the NY Times (April 3rd).
