Once announced, Tezekuri (Japanese for ‘handmade’) quickly became one of my most anticipated restaurant openings for 2025. With an unexpected trip to the States, December 2025 went a bit topsy-turvy, but I was able to make up some ground towards the end of the month. It’s been said before (by me), but Dubai without people is the best Dubai, and our 35-minute zip downtown from Dubai South easily proves this fact. We park via valet, which is the only option available. Spoiler alert: this area is an active construction site that doesn’t appear to be finished in the coming months. For city-dwellers and residents, this is nothing new. For visitors, standing next to a giant skyscraper and all the noise and equipment that go along with it might be a bit much (though kind of unavoidable in Dubai).

Walking up to Tezekuri, there is cozy outdoor seating (available for cooler months). Of course, the real action is inside, where a spacious hand roll bar awaits. We’re lucky enough to get a tour from
