I was recently invited to Takahisa, located in Caesars Palace on Bluewaters Island. With an eye-watering cost of AED2500 (per person!), the festive menu especially caught my eye, so I had to see what the fuss was about (especially when I realized this pricing was just where the costs of the meal started). Upon arrival, my dining partner and I were (generously) upgraded to the premium package. Additions, you ask? AED 1,500 for Japanese crab and white truffle (per person). AED 1,000 for a glass of highly sought-after Juyondai sake (exclusively available at Takahisa).

If you’re doing your maths correctly, that’s a cost of AED5000 per person (which is the current rate for a meal at Sublimination). And for a couple, that’s AED10,000 — not including gratuity — or USD2,722 (!!!).

I ask you to keep this number in mind as we move forward.
