Although my first invite came in January, I’ve had a bit of a wild ride since then and only made a reservation at Sucre in late June. Fortunately, with many other friends who have already visited and enjoyed their experience, I figured I was in for an easy meal.
Fortunately, I was right.
Upon arrival, the space is positively massive. Occupying one of the most significant outposts in DIFC, Sucre encompasses an outdoor patio, indoor lounge, and simply enormous dining room. I don’t ask how many covers, but it must be approaching Zuma’s size.
With the restaurant more or less to ourselves, we find a seat in the dining room with decent natural light and peek through the offers. The Taste of Sucre menu is available, priced at AED250 per person (with upsells for dessert and drinks), and we decide to go ahead. There are five small plates to choose from, five large dishes, two snacks, and bread. Slightly (ahem) ‘dehydrated’ from a 40th the night before, we also get through three bottles of water.
