Jumierah Marsa Al Arab feels like the hotel Dubai has been trying to build for years: unapologetically ambitious, extravagantly designed, and uncomprimisingly OTT. Positioned beside the sail-shaped silhouette of the iconic Jumeirah Burj Al Arab (still closed, but lovely to look at and a true ‘only in Dubai’ moment), Marsa could have easily leaned into spectacle alone. Staff navigate the vastness with confidence and warmth, offering the sort of intuitive service that luxury hotels promise but don’t always deliver.
The rooms (we were placed in an Ocean Deluxe Suite) are generously sized and filled with thoughtful details. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring the Arabian Gulf into focus, while the interiors blend contemporary elegance with subtle nautical references. It’s the kind of room where you find yourself lingering longer than planned, reluctant to leave for dinner or the beach.
