Ossiano has always been an elusive restaurant for me. Even after my 15 years in the region, I’ve only been once, and for my visit, I was a (very) last-minute +1. Thus, when an invitation recently came across my inbox, I was only too delighted to accept. And for my birthday? How could I say no?
Before we begin, I also think it’s worth disclosing a bit of backstory. For those not aware, Ossiano was long the domain of everyone’s favorite Frenchman, chef Gregoire Berger. For reasons I’m not going to guess at, Gregoire left Ossiano for a period between 2020-2021 (I think I had his last menu before he jumped over to 3 fils/Brix). But now that Chef is back, I think the restaurant is all the better for it. I’m not sure what happened in the interim, but there seems to be a complete sense of renewal and approach across the restaurant.
