So, let’s return to South America (and no, it’s not the final installment — I had a lot to eat while I was away). Manuel Restaurante, fronted by Chef Mane Mendoza, in Barranquilla, Columbia. Although the travel was a bit much (Dubai - Mexico City - Merida - Cancun - Bogota - Barranquilla - !!!) for this intrepid traveler, I’ll admit this restaurant was a highlight when I wasn’t expecting one. Upon arrival, the property is upscale and has charming Art Deco-ish interiors. For our lunch visit, it’s clear from the crowd that it is a popular location. We are treated to a multicourse menu and wine pairing. In retrospect, this was probably not the best idea as the remainder of the afternoon and evening was spent marching in the pre-Carnival parade (something I would never like to participate in for the rest of my life, thanks).
