Thus far, I have avoided visiting the “new” Okku. I have nothing against Okku, per se, more that there is a considerable redundancy of Asian food (fusion, sushi, teppanyaki, etc.) in this town, and I’m just kind of…over it? (Not so over it that I won’t visit places, more that I’m so ready for someone to do something original or, at a minimum, more authentic).
Hence, since the launch, I haven’t made it to the venue, and Okku wasn’t all that high on my list. However, when an invite came to visit the restaurant within a restaurant concept, Musou, I was ready to accept. Musou is (officially) a “10-course experiential menu blending omakase precision with culinary artistry on a teppanyaki.” I might beg to disagree with the semantics of this description, but read on and tell me if you agree.
