Tucked into the back corners of DIFC, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon (yes, as part of that Robuchon’s empire) opened in October, but I’ve missed visiting until now. I will admit, for reasons unknown, this venue has been entirely off the radar of the city’s foodies. Is this (not so) subtle shade at the former PR? A little. Fortunately, the restaurant has taken a new direction, and I look forward to seeing what they accomplish.
Although I’m at DIFC nearly every week, actually getting to the front door of the L’Atelier is more of a challenge than I initially thought it would be (especially in 35C heat). I follow the signs, only to find a dedicated valet elevator that I probably could’ve taken advantage of. However I find myself at the front door, once inside, I’m warmly welcomed by the hostess. The interior is much as I’ve seen in photos — vaulted ceilings, vibrant reds, cool black tones, chrome fixtures, and an open kitchen/dining concept.
