Although I rarely ponder on the topic, in some ways, food is (and always has been) a form of art and expression.

Readers will know I was recently invited on a press trip to Bahrain. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Bahrain and were treated to (almost exceeding) high levels of generosity and hospitality. The property’s executive chef is Yann Lejard, and he recently opened a specialty restaurant on the property — one of four Krug-related restaurants worldwide.

Expectations, therefore, were relatively high as we went to our final evening’s dinner in the new restaurant, La Table by Y. Starting with cheese and (what else?) Krug champagne al fresco, we were then escorted inside. I’ll note that the venue's interior feels like an afterthought, something more like a large closet rather than a fine dining experience.
