Kraken. 🐙
Beautiful food, challenging location.
With award-winning Chef Gregoire Berger departing Ossiano* late last year, expectations were high for where he would go and what he would do. Throughout 2025, there were rumors about his exact movements and where we might open, and then Kraken boldly jumped onto our social media. I missed the initial fanfare, but did find my way over in November.
Making my way down Al Wasl, valet parking is available at the restaurant (clutch), but I chose street parking for an easy getaway. For those who haven’t visited, Kraken is in a standalone villa with three levels. As of now, only the ground floor (open to the road in cooler months) and the top level, The Nest, are open. I spoke with Chef earlier in the year, and I know there are plans for a sort of tasting menu experience on the unfinished second floor. TBC on when it will be complete, but I think it’s a smart move to focus on acquiring new customers rather than spending additional money on fitout. Walking into the venue feels a bit like stumb…
