For the most part, I avoid Dubai Marina. I’m a bit of a snob about traffic, and combined with the lack of parking, I rarely find restaurants that are worthy of the effort. Fortunately, with a review on Saturday night, and blissfully quiet traffic patterns, I found myself approaching Koyo in a very optimistic mood. Walking through the lobby of the Intercontinental Marina, Liam and I follow the signs and take the lift downstairs to the recently opened Koyo. When the elevator door opens, we walk through a set of double doors into a car park. This location takes us by surprise. It’s not immediately off-putting, just a little disorienting. If anything, the entrance feels a bit like a speakeasy, but you may feel differently. Perhaps if there was a bit more air circulation in the basement parking, the space would feel a little less oppressive.
