I’d heard a lot about Jun’s before my recent invitation (primarily good reviews and perhaps a few ‘okays’). Although I was determined to get some time back to myself in this busy season, I simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity, and I’m so glad I made an effort. Described ‘Asian flavors reimagined capturing the nostalgic flavors of North American Asian presented in a modern, progressive format,’ I show up with an open mind to see exactly how this concept translates on the plate.
So, first things first, in everyone’s pictures I’ve seen to date, the interior of Jun’s seemed a relatively small and intimate venue. Pulling up on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard near the Burj Khalifa, I was surprised to enter a massive restaurant space. Upon chatting with Chef Kelvin Cheung, he explained that the dining rooms were split such that families could enjoy one side and those who might be indulging in alcohol could enjoy the other side. There is also ample outdoor space and a chef’s table.
