Recently, with an extra night that I didn’t expect to have in my schedule, I booked a review at the new Lana Hotel, the first in Dubai for the Dorchester collection. Other than traditional media outlets, I had not heard much about either venue we visited, but at the end of the day, I love a) a new hotel and b) not cooking. Making the best use of sunset timing, my husband and I started our evening with sundowners at High Society followed by dinner at Jara by Martín Berasategui.
Pulling up to The Lana, I’ll admit, it’s with a slight side eye. From the entrance, the location is neither on the canal nor directly within the bustle of Business Bay. For the (eye-watering) price point (AED3500++ per night), I would like to think that hotel guests would want beach access or, simply, a more exciting part of town. While the views on the canal side are stunning, I don’t think the price point is justified (especially in a city with excellent five-star options).
