A must visit in Bahrain.

I’ve been fortunate to enjoy some of Chef Tala’s dishes over the past few years. Unfortunately — due to geography and a particular global pandemic — I could not travel to Bahrain until recently to try Tala’s food in her own kitchen. For the record, Tala was kind enough to open on Wednesday and bring her entire team for a one-off lunch service for Sarah and me. This gesture alone is exceptional and one of the highlights of my culinary year.

Actually finding Fusions by Tala is a bit of an adventure; the journey somehow makes the experience a little more unique. Once inside, the interior is subdued, with a slightly open kitchen and an unpretentious vibe. The space is intimate, and while we are there, primarily during some early winter afternoon lighting, the area is lovely.

I should note that the degustation isn’t always available — so please plan to check in advance to avoid any disappointment — but we’re able to try several new dishes and old dishes, which Tala has been perfecting. We be…
