Basko

With a late invite to Basko’s brunch, it was easy to say yes on a lazy summer Saturday. Priced at AED450 for the free flow alcohol package, the Basko approach seems fair for the number of dishes, both chosen by the table and served a la carte. The selections might seem complicated — 2 of this, 1 of these — but this approach also cuts down on food wastage, which I am (always) here for. There’s a bit of something for everyone, and the kitchen sends us ‘bonus’ dishes, including a signature sea urchin pasta, which essentially repulses all of us. There’s also a ‘unique’ burrata, which comes with mushrooms (yay) and truffle oil (no).

Would I return to Basko? Er… I’m sorry, did you say Suave? While wasn’t enough on the Basko menu to tempt me back (apart from the gorgeous bathrooms), the real find was the throw-back lounge upstairs. I hope to find the right project to film or record there soon.
