A few weeks ago, I immediately fell in love with Lisbon on my first (!) trip to Portugal. I’m not sure why or what was in the air, but the city is simply stunning. I found myself infatuated with the originality, independence, and hospitality.
Ahem, if you’ll (hopefully) pardon my humble brag? After a night spent with Virgilio and Pia (!) who were visiting to serve up a version of their Central in Encanto (not even open yet), as well as several other restaurants in Jose Avillez’s portfolio (Mini Bar, Bairro), we were invited to dine at Belcanto, awarded two Michelin stars, and currently #42 on the World’s Best Restaurants list.
Having spent time with Jose and his team prior to the meal, I can only speak to their generosity and creativity.
