I had Bar du Port on my culinary to-do list all summer and maybe there’s where it should have stayed. After two failed attempts (my preference these days is always a weekend lunch), I finally made my way over to the restaurant. Although I usually avoid the marina at all costs, I find the recently launched Dubai Harbor a (slightly) more accessible place to reach.

After going through two security gates, I was dropped off at the end of the harbor, and the first thing I noticed was the VERY high curbs. There are high curbs to look at the boats and back onto the marina, and there are high curbs to get in and access the restaurant. In my 2.5-inch heels, this is an actual safety hazard (and my guest echoed the same thing). While I don’t see many children visiting Bar du Port, this would be straight-up dangerous for kids or anyone with a pram. Also, not a great start?
